Kim and Roberta Barham manage a small homestead farm In Southwest Wisconsin’s Driftless Region. They specialize in growing Certified Organic Aronia berries (chokeberry). As passionate believers in this Native Superfruit, its ecological, neutraceutical and potential economic impact, they are engaging themselves in a Statewide campaign to increase Aronia awareness.
Besides growing the fruit and marketing to various Madison area grocery stores and farmers markets, they have collaborated with Yahara Bay Distillers to develop, bottle and distribute an enjoyable and versatile Aronia Berry Cherry liqueur. Retail locations, cocktail and food recipe ideas are highlighted on other pages.
In May, 2019, the Aronia Berry Cherry Liqueur won a Bronze Medal at the New York International Spirits Competition, one of 600 international entries.
The Barhams wish to enhance Aronia awareness and support Wisconsin and other Aronia growers, harvesters, processors, etc. (Find links to these businesses on our Industry Partners page.) They source over 51% of the liqueur ingredients from Wisconsin Agribusinesses including Bellbrook Berry Farm, Mount Horeb honey and Door County cherries.
